Help Creating Ticket automatically from Form Submission on Starter Hub Tier

I am desperately trying to get a ticket system set up and need help. We are on the Starter Customer Tier, so we don't have access to Help Desk or Ticket Properities in Forms, so we need a workaround.

What I want to accomplish is a) customer fills out support form on our website, b) support form automatically creates a ticket in our Hubspot system, c) ticket is automatically assigned to a team member based on the category of the ticket.

Even if just step a) and b) work, we'll take it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! We're also open to using Zapier to help accomplish this.

Hi @NKinsey ,
You're right, HubSpot Starter doesn’t give you full ticket automation, but there are still a couple of good ways to make it work:

Method 1-

If you have a support email like support@yourcompany.com:

  1. Connect it to HubSpot as a shared inbox (under Conversations).

  2. Set your website form to send a notification email to that inbox.

  3. HubSpot can automatically turn each email into a support ticket.

So when someone fills out your form, a ticket is created automatically, no extra tools needed!

Here’s how to set it up: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/automate-ticket-pipelines

Note: You won’t be able to customize ticket fields directly from the form, but at least all support requests will become tickets.

Method 2-

Since you’re open to Zapier, it’s a perfect solution:

  1. Trigger: "New form submission" (via HubSpot or another form tool).

  2. Action: "Create ticket" in HubSpot.

  3. You can map form fields to ticket properties (like category, description, etc.).

  4. Add routing logic to assign tickets to specific users based on form input.

You can learn more in HubSpot’s knowledge base article on using Zapier:  https://knowledge.hubspot.com/integrations/how-to-use-zapier-and-hubspot

Hey @NKinsey

After going through your requirements. I'd like you to suggest an app recently launched by us: MakeWebBetter Connect. Just sticking to your requirements, our app can:

  • Detect form submissions,
  • Create tickets in HubSpot (even on Starter),
  • Assign tickets based on logic — all without requiring Service Hub Pro.

On the broader viewpoint, our app is built around HubSpot-specific logic. It’s a no-code automation platform that offers native support for 60+ HubSpot actions and triggers (including Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects). One thing that stands out is that it doesn’t limit multi-step workflows or webhook usage, even on the free plan.

So, if you'd like to know more about. We'll be happy to help.

Best Regards.

Thank you so much! I’m trying this now. For Method 2 – on the Hubspot form, do I also need to set up an automated workflow for what happens after the ticket is submitted?
