Calendar view for Custom Objects

The new Beta feature for Calendar View in Deals is great, but I would like to have a Calendar view in my Custom Objects. I know there is an App in the Marketplace that does this, but I wonder why it exists for Deals and not Custom Objects.

I have a custom object that has date fields, customer names and some various other properties.  I have been asked if we can view this in a calendar view instead of piplelines and all records.  Something like this:

This would be a great idea if calendar views could be possible on objects.

One would need to be able to configure it with this in mind.
  1. Configure properties are used for the date.
  2. Configure propeties that show in the calendar. At least 3.
  3. Allow end user to view the calendar in Month, Week or Day mode.
  4. Allow calendar to be viewed in Grid or Gant views.
  5. Drag and Drop calendar options controlled on a per user or per team basis.
  6. Be able to edit calendar details and controlled on a per user or per team basis.

  7. The abibility to have Workflows fired on edits or drag and drop.

I was surprised when I seen calendar view available for the companies object but not custom objects.

My current workaround is to sync all records with another tool that can create a calendar. This is needlessly complex when hubspot has this view type already.

Yes, custom objects need to operate the same as standard objects, there should be no features that are not avaialble. There are also some objects missing Gantt Chart view. The views really need to be the same across all objects!
